The first episode of Supergirl is a surprisingly good one hour superhero drama. Created by the team behind Arrow and Flash, the writers get most of the comics lore right. The pilot is surprisingly goofy in moments which mask a painfully earnest side. When it comes to growing the demographic base, Supergirl is an important show. Thankfully, it is also a watchable show.

With Clive's gun missing and evidence that the deceased woman was stalking him, he gets sidelined in the investigation. With the Detective on suspension, Ravi and Olivia go out into the field to find the real killer. Hilarity ensues and someone goes to jail.

Part Doctor Who and part Avengers, the pilot makes good time as Rip Hunter makes his pitch to the wildly different characters, they say their goodbyes and then fly back to the 1970s. And the punching continues.

Felicity's mother arrives in Star City and dithers her way through the attempt to save Ray wherever he is.

For one, Blaine (brilliantly played by David Anders) is searching for the person killing the zombies that rely on him for their gray matter.
